K-Scope

We hadn't been to Kaleidoscope in awhile, but that's where the girls wanted to go. The weather was too good to be indoors, but hey.

It's free, so that's always a plus. Hit the Hallmark Visitor's Center while we were at it and walked around Crown Center a bit.

Mo wanted to go to Wonderscope after, as an automatic one-two punch, but the membership's expired so that was off the menu. We headed to Shawnee Mission Park to launch rockets instead, with both girls protesting.

But really, it's 70ºF and the winds are nonexistent. Not even moving the tall grass. And we haven't launched in an age, so Daddy vetoed the complaints and we proceeded to the park.

Kaleidoscope gave me a survey to fill out, asking about possible enhancements and improvements they're pondering. Thing is, and this is what I put on the survey, the white, square Kaleidoscope I went to as a kid was awesome, so if they'd asked I wouldn't have suggested any changes. It's current incarnation, though, is so ridiculously amazing it literally shames the Kaleidoscope I remember.

So if they have ideas, things they think will make it even better, I trust their judgment. When you pay that $3 or $5 for a card, which is really just one piece of paper and an envelope, maybe 10¢ worth of raw materials, some of that money is lining the pockets of the Halls to be sure. In exchange, they developed the coolest mall in town and fund this amazing arts & crafts activity center that's free to all comers.

Which is to say, the Greeting Card Industrial Complex does more in the way of 'giving back' than a lot of corporations.
