I won't be as pretentious as to claim a deep understanding of Georgia and Russia's problems with each other, but how does Condi Rice tell the Russians they can't invade another sovereign power unilaterally? They have Georgia, but we have Iraq. And I think the Russians could rightly assert that while their reasons for going to war are absolutely wrong, they're not fraudulent. Which the reasons for invading Iraq were, absolutely.
What signals were we supposed to give the Russians that invading another country was not acceptable? Invading other countries? Or on top of that having our dubious leader hugging their dubious president a few weeks back?
