To Dye For

We dyed eggs this morning. Lots of eggs.

I went a little crazy, but anything that’s worth doing is worth overdoing, right?

We started with 90 eggs. Not all of them grew up to go to college, some of them cracked before I was finished hard boiling them. Some of them cracked when I dropped them.

Still, there were over 70 eggs that got dyed.

We tried a few different kits. One was billed as a glitter egg kit, which turned out to mean a traditional dye tablet, and some stuff to glitter the eggs after they’d dried.

Another kit was supposed to offer poofy writing stuff, which turned out to be 3 D but lame.

Another offered marble swirl effects.

The Tie-Dye kit was the best. It used a concentrated liquid die and plastic bags. You dobbed a dot or two of color on and then rolled it in the bag to smear it around. Some cool effects come from this.

Mo wanted to color eggs but she didn’t. I got her to help some, but it was too exciting, and she wanted to throw the eggs or crush them Mice and Men style.

And to eat them. Gawd but that kid can eat hardboiled eggs.
