When Government Happens to Good People

When I'm arguing with my liberal/socialist friends, and they bring up how untrustworthy corporations can be, I can't say they're wrong. Corporations are human institutions that make virtually every decision solely by a P&L rationale. Their saving grace is they mostly rely on serving people better than their competitors in order to get those profits and they generally rack up losses when they hurt people. I'm not saying always, mind you.

But government is what I truly don't trust. Because government doesn't rely on choice, only on force. You can bitch all you want about a store selling guns, but show me a store that points guns at people and shoots them.

But this video I found on the PostSecret blog, wow. Even I would have thought federal funding of a suicide help line would be a pretty benign affair. But hearing this, I'm reminded that there is no such thing as benign federal funding.
