The Economic Recovery Ride

The Trek Recovery Ride tonight was kind of improvised. With a lot of new riders, some of them pretty young.

Because it wasn't the regular route, I had no sense of where I was relative to the end, and since we hit a couple of dead ends and had to turn around and whatnot, I was surprised to learn that our paperclip shaped route had been slightly under eight miles.

I was pretty tired and sore from the weekend, so that probably had to do with the perception, too.

So we followed a guy who didn't know for sure where we were going (and who said as much before we started out) on a loopy journey down streets that went nowhere and felt like we'd gone much further than we had. What could be more American than that? That pretty much describes our economy the past couple years.
