Surf & Tough



Okay, I was going to grill this stuff. I had two salmon filets and a couple of steaks.

Normally, I love a good ribeye or other well-marbled cut. But these steaks were lean (a subset of sirloin) and on sale. I figured I'd marinate for tenderness.



Then it rained and grilling was pretty much out.

I'd marinated the steaks for about two hours in cooking wine, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Sautéed some onions and garlic, tried to make a reduction sauce with the leftover marinade and some sugar and flour.



The steaks were awful. I won't say they were inedible because I choked one down, but damn. I need to read up on marinades or something.
