Or fish trap, anyway. At the city-wide garage sale, I saw these 'Night Fisherman' devices for sale. It seemed like a lot of them, and the woman said, "Oh, my Dad makes them."



It holds your pole for you and when you get a hit it beeps. Simple device, really. I'd probably use something like this since fishing from the shore is generally so boring I'd fall asleep no matter the time of day. If I could only need to be awake for the reeling in part, I might be able to get excited about going fishing.
