They dyed the J.C. Nichols fountain pink for breast cancer awareness in October.
But in a story I heard of the Arab Spring heading into fall, a Syrian protester talked about spiking their fountains with red dye to symbolize the bloodshed.
The effect is rather pink in the fountainy parts of the fountains, in Damascus as in Kansas City:
