This is maybe a little detour on my Lucas-oriented Kansas adventure package from a few weeks back. But the movie "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" has the thing with Arnie climbing the water tower, and I always thought, Why the hell don't they have a fence around their water tower. Like every water tower I've ever seen?
At first glance, I thought the Lucas water tower was the first I'd ever found that had no such barrier to someone's high maintenance child climbing it.
Then I saw the deal they have padlocked around the bottom of the ladder, kind of like a squirrel sleeve for a tree. I guess someone in Lucas saw the movie, too.
