Beauty of a Super Bowl

First off, allow me to explain why I was rooting for the Good Guys. Or why who I was rooting for were the good guys.

The Colts are forever tainted by the Mayflower move. They were Baltimore's team and they moved away from loyal fans for some filthy lucre the taxpayers of Indianapolis came up with. This had a cascading effect when Baltimore and the state of Maryland decided to bribe the Browns out of the Dog Pound, which left Cleveland's loyal fans to fend for an expansion franchise.

My team, the Kansas City Chiefs moved from Dallas, it's true, but they moved because Dallas at the time really wasn't showing any signs it could support two pro football teams. That's a horse of a different color. Teams like the Raiders, the Rams, the Colts, Oilers, etc, they represent a real problem. Tax dollars should not be used to provide stadiums for billionaires to pay millionaires to play a game only the affluent can afford to attend. Teams moving to get a better deal exacerbate this problem.

Plus, after Katrina, who didn't think New Orleans was due for a break of some kind?

And the good guys, the Saints, won. They went for it on fourth (I know, they missed that one, but still). They did the onside kick. They intercepted Peyton Manning, they got three long field goals. In other words, they didn't worry about the odds, they just decided to win the game and went out and did it. It was beautiful.

And to top it all off, Len Dawson carted their trophy to the Commissioner.

The much celebrated Super Bowl commercials were mostly disappointing, even lame, but on the flip side the half time show by The Who was surprisingly good. They're not my favorite band, and when I saw them at Arrowhead in '89, they seemed too old to rock & roll. But they kicked it pretty good at halftime, and Pete Townsend was so obviously having fun it was impossible for me to make lip farts and feel disgust. In other words, it was nothing like the embarrassing Rolling Stones half time show.

I made pizza, Em had a friend over for a little Super Bowl party (sort of, they ate pizza but were more interested in pulling up annoying YouTube videos than watching the game).

I made a black olive/prosciutto, a plain cheese/alfredo and a pesto with half cheese, half cheese & anchovies. I'm getting better at hand stretching/tossing the dough so it's super thin. The last pizza just barely fit the stone I got it stretched so thin.
