The first time I was at Corinna's house, she showed me her tube collection. I've replaced innertubes on my bicycle, but always trashed the old one.
Foolish, because they make the best bungee chords, but they also make good innertubes if you'll take a minute to patch them.
A patch costs a quarter, a tube more like five bucks. So while I was a slow beginner who only managed to patch two tubes during our little patch party, Corinna was salvaging at a very respectable clip.
Throwing a punctured tube away sure seems wasteful when you see someone netting around $30 an hour in reusable innertubes.
